The fiction of the fans.

It was a constant debate in my mind as to what my first ever blog post would be about. I decided to go on something familiar, something I enjoy doing and something I’ve been doing for a while; writing.
But It wasn’t as if 11 year old Danica woke up one day and said, “Hey! I’m going to write something!” It was a process and it all started off with something called ‘Fanfiction.’
Now for those of you that don’t know what Fanfiction is because you’ve been living under rock, let me elaborate for you.
Urban dictionary defines the term Fanfiction as, ‘When someone takes either the story or characters (or both) of a certain piece of work, whether it be a novel, tv show, movie, etc, and create their own story based on it’
That couldn’t be anything more than accurate, which is quite surprising coming from Urban dictionary, where I happen to learn that water sports aren’t actual water sports…
So now that you lovely people know what Fanfiction is, I can continue with my magical story.
It all started when I was about eleven years of age. I was quite invested in a Disney show called, ‘Kickin’ It.’ I happened to grow fond of one particular pairing. They weren’t together or ‘cannon’ in the show at present.  But I so badly wanted them to be. It was an odd feeling and this is where I began to ‘ship’ them.
Now, this is where things get serious in the land of the internet, especially when Tumblr gets involved.
To ‘ship’ two people means you approve and or want them to be in a relationship. You can ‘ship’ many people but we all have that one ‘OTP’, meaning ‘One True Pair,’ the pairing that we ship the most.
Now, bringing that little term Fanfiction back into the equation and add it to the shipping of people, you can kind of understand what happened next.
I had just finished watching and episode of Kickin’ it and I was just a puddle of feels (Feels: Immense feelings brought on by your OTP) so, I made the best mistake of my life, I search the pair name (Pair name: A mixture of the OTP’s name into one singular name) on Tumblr. Now, the first thing I found was a shit lot of gif sets (Gif sets: Firstly, a gif is a picture that moves, I mean come on you must’ve known that. Therefore, a gif set is a bunch of pictures that you know, move) the thing about Tumblr is, there are a lot of gif sets… So after wading through millions and trillions of gif sets, I finally came across a link. I can’t remember the exact user that posted it (If I did, I would kiss you sweet Tumblr user) and 11 year old Danica clicked on that link. It was a link to a Fanfiction on the glorious site, Fanfiction.net (Seriously, it’s the best place in the entire world) and I started reading. The fic itself wasn’t the longest, about a thousand words or so, but it changed my life. After the ten or so minutes it took me to read and absorb that Fanfiction, I started reading more and more and more until I would fake sick so I could stay home and read. I know, I’m fucking rebellious.
This lasted for about four years. I obviously graduated from silly Disney based fics. From Glee, to Shameless US, I read almost every Fanfiction I could get my hands on, and trust me, there were many.
And then, I downloaded Wattpad.
Wattpad is an app that you can download on your phone and you can also access it on the internets. I started reading more Fanfiction on there, but it was more social. You could vote for your favorite chapter of your favorite Fanfiction or book (The lovely thing about Wattpad is it doesn’t strictly contain Fanfiction, it has original works too!) and comment and whatever else.
Eventually, I had read that site out dry and started to get bored with myself, so I decided to write my own Fanfiction.
Now for those of you that have read my Fanfiction, just don’t. Especially if I know you personally, it will just be weird, trust me.  Or you know what, go for it. It’s super gay though, and I mean that literally.
It started to get really big and really popular. It’s currently sitting at half a million views! It’s quite overwhelming for me.
But now comes the constant debate I have with myself almost every day.
Do I post my original stories?
Now, I have written many original stories, they just sit in a file on my computer. I don’t want to post them, mostly because I fear criticism.
So I morph them into a form of Fanfiction and post it as such. It’s not the best thing but it gets it done.
Now, I’m at that part of the blog where I don’t really know what the point of me writing all this is. Well, to be perfectly honest, there is no point, at all. I just wrote a bunch of stuff for absolutely no reason whatsoever. So there you go!
Oh and here is some internet-Tumblr slang you should get your head around.
Smut- A Fanfiction or chapter containing sex.
Fluff- A Fanfiction or chapter containing really cute romantic shenanigans (My personal favorite)
Slash or yaoi- The gay stuff
Urie- The lesbiany stuff
Boy/girl pairing- heterosexual pairing
Asdfgfgg – basically means ‘I love this and it gave me the feels.’
A fangirl or to fangirl- A fangirl is a girl or boy that is a fan of a particular fandom. To fangirl means to freak out and lose your shit.
Fandom- A group of people that ship and or are fans of the same thing.

So yeah, that was my shitty first blog yo’.

You guys can leave now.
